Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), schedule varies and is self-scheduled; orientation Week 1: Monday-Friday dayshift, Week 2: 36 hours on-unit with preceptor

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity progressive care nursing for oncology and telemetry patients with compassion and clinical excellence
- Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to keep patients safe
- Manage central lines, PICCs and peripheral IVs including starting and maintaining IV access
- Administer and monitor blood products according to policy and patient needs
- Care for chest tubes, tracheostomies, and non-invasive airway supports (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC)
- Perform ABG interpretation and provide respiratory support in collaboration with respiratory therapy
- Use Rapid Response/Code teams effectively and participate in emergency interventions
- Follow infection prevention and isolation precautions to protect vulnerable oncology patients
- Provide feeding tube and port access/management with attention to safety and patient comfort
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (PT, RT, pharmacy, social services) to coordinate care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience; PCU/stepdown or ICU backgrounds do well here (oncology experience preferred but not required)
- Current BLS (BCLS), ACLS and NIHSS certifications (required/preferred per unit notes)
- Proficiency with Epic charting system
- Comfort managing high-acuity PCU patients, including central line care, blood product administration, chest tube and tracheostomy care
- Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity and work variable weekends as needed
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required
Education
- Active RN license (required)
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- High-acuity PCU / stepdown care and progressive care competencies
- Central line, PICC and peripheral IV management and IV insertion
- Blood product administration and heparin protocol familiarity
- PCA pumps, Alaris pump experience, and continuous bladder irrigation familiarity
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac) and tracheostomy care
- Non-invasive airway support: CPAP/BiPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
- ABG interpretation and collaboration with respiratory therapy
- Feeding tube and port access/management
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions in an oncology setting
- Phlebotomy, arterial line management, wound care/Wound VAC, and chemotherapy administration/monitoring (preferred)
