Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist occupational therapists in delivering patient-centered treatment plans that restore independence
- Implement therapeutic activities, adaptive techniques, and functional training with compassion and creativity
- Document patient progress accurately and promptly to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and achieve meaningful patient outcomes
- Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive equipment, home programs, and safety strategies
- Maintain therapy equipment, ensure a safe treatment environment, and follow infection control standards
Qualifications
- Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential — required
- Massachusetts state licensure or the ability to obtain state authorization for practice
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Immunizations and health clearances as required by the facility
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of therapeutic techniques and activity analysis
- Skilled in adaptive equipment recommendations and functional task training
- Comfortable documenting in electronic health records and producing clear clinical notes
- Ability to assess patient needs, set goals, and modify interventions appropriately
- Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family education and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Time management and organizational skills to manage caseload and documentation
