Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist occupational therapists in delivering patient-centered treatment plans that restore independence
• Implement therapeutic activities, adaptive techniques, and functional training with compassion and creativity
• Document patient progress accurately and promptly to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and achieve meaningful patient outcomes
• Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive equipment, home programs, and safety strategies
• Maintain therapy equipment, ensure a safe treatment environment, and follow infection control standards

Qualifications

• Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential — required
• Massachusetts state licensure or the ability to obtain state authorization for practice
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Immunizations and health clearances as required by the facility
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Working knowledge of therapeutic techniques and activity analysis
• Skilled in adaptive equipment recommendations and functional task training
• Comfortable documenting in electronic health records and producing clear clinical notes
• Ability to assess patient needs, set goals, and modify interventions appropriately
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family education and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Time management and organizational skills to manage caseload and documentation
