Shift Type: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), primarily nights with potential rotation to days and nights; schedule assignments reviewed every 4 weeks; weekend coverage varies based on unit needs

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Float to Oncology Medical-Surgical and PCU units as needed, providing high-quality patient care across settings
- Ensure the safety of staff and patients in a secure corrections environment while maintaining professionalism and de-escalation skills
- Perform unit-based telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias to support timely interventions
- Manage IV therapy and vascular access including PICC and central line care, plus starting and maintaining peripheral IVs
- Administer blood products and follow medication protocols including IV insulin, heparin protocols, and PCA management
- Provide respiratory support (CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, oxygen devices) and tracheostomy care, including ABG interpretation
- Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC and utilize Pyxis for medication administration
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — pharmacy, respiratory, PT, radiology, social services and rapid response teams — to coordinate patient-centered care
Qualifications
- Active RN license (Ohio) — compact license accepted if applicable
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience (medical-surgical/telemetry or PCU experience preferred)
- EPIC charting experience required
- BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
- IV therapy/phlebotomy experience and blood product administration preferred
- Comfortable working in a locked corrections unit and following facility security protocols
- Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Medical-Surgical and PCU/Stepdown care with telemetry monitoring
- Cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- IV therapy, PICC and central line management, and blood product administration
- Respiratory support skills: CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, oxygen delivery, tracheostomy care
- Familiarity with medication protocols (IV insulin, heparin, PCA) and unit-based emergency response
- Proficient EPIC documentation and use of Pyxis medication system
- Ability to work collaboratively with rapid response teams and interdisciplinary departments
- Experience supporting oncology patients and monitoring chemotherapy (preferred)
