Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing and mobility
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff to ensure timely interventions
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents are comfortable and nourished
• Document care accurately and promptly in resident records to maintain continuity of care
• Foster a positive, respectful environment by engaging residents in conversation and meaningful activities
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and colleagues

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification; Maryland state certification preferred or obtainable
• Prior experience in long-term care, assisted living or geriatrics is a plus
• Basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification recommended
• Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings or immunizations
• Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with ADLs (bathing, toileting, grooming, feeding and mobility)
• Comfortable with basic resident observations and reporting changes to nursing staff
• Knowledge of infection control, safety practices and proper lifting/transfer techniques
• Ability to document care accurately and follow facility protocols
• Experience working with older adults, including those with dementia or complex care needs
