Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Monitor resident condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly
• Support safe transfers and mobility with proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Assist with meal service and document intake as required
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote resident dignity and independence
• Adhere to infection control practices and facility policies to ensure a safe environment

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or Geriatric Nursing Assistant credential in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working overnight hours and supporting a geriatric population
• Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach to care

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting)
• Knowledge of basic vital sign measurement and documentation
• Understanding of infection prevention and safe handling techniques
• Good observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
• Teamwork and clear communication with nurses, therapists, and support staff
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during shifts
