Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor resident condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly
- Support safe transfers and mobility with proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Assist with meal service and document intake as required
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote resident dignity and independence
- Adhere to infection control practices and facility policies to ensure a safe environment
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or Geriatric Nursing Assistant credential in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working overnight hours and supporting a geriatric population
- Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach to care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting)
- Knowledge of basic vital sign measurement and documentation
- Understanding of infection prevention and safe handling techniques
- Good observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
- Teamwork and clear communication with nurses, therapists, and support staff
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during shifts
