Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, honoring dignity and individual preferences
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Monitor and record vital signs, observe for changes in condition, and promptly communicate concerns to nursing staff
• Support mobility, safe transfers, and fall prevention measures to keep residents safe
• Deliver timely, accurate documentation of care and changes in resident status
• Collaborate with nurses and the interdisciplinary team to implement care plans and promote positive outcomes
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control and safety protocols

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or equivalent (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
• Active or eligible for Maryland state certification or ability to obtain required state credentials
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working night shifts and supporting older adult populations
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Strong communication skills and a teamwork mindset

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification or successful completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Geriatric care principles and respectful elder communication
• Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and mobility support
• Basic vital signs measurement and documentation
• Dementia awareness and de-escalation techniques
• Infection control practices and safe patient handling
• Reliable documentation, time management, and teamwork
