Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility with dignity and compassion
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff to ensure timely care
• Support safe transfers, ambulation and positioning to promote independence and prevent injury
• Maintain accurate documentation of care, meals and activities according to facility standards
• Help create a warm, respectful environment that promotes social engagement and emotional wellbeing
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to protect residents and staff
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification in the state of Maryland or equivalent credential
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willing to obtain upon hire)
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB test per facility policy
• Clear background check and ability to pass any required health screenings
• Comfortable working with older adults and committed to compassionate, patient-centered care
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Practical knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident care routines
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Familiarity with safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Understanding of infection control best practices
• Ability to observe, report and follow care plans and nurse instructions
• Compassion, patience and strong interpersonal skills for working with geriatric patients
