Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess: Conduct thorough speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing evaluations to identify patient needs
- Plan: Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that drive meaningful progress
- Treat: Deliver engaging therapy sessions using best practices and appropriate modalities, including AAC when needed
- Collaborate: Work closely with nurses, PT/OT, social work, and family members to coordinate holistic care
- Document: Maintain clear, timely clinical documentation and progress notes that reflect patient outcomes
- Educate: Provide caregiver and family education to support carryover and functional communication
- Adapt: Float across assigned locations and adjust caseloads while maintaining high-quality care
- Advocate: Champion patient needs within the interdisciplinary team to improve outcomes and experience
Qualifications
- Current Massachusetts SLP license (required)
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent) required
- ASHA CCC-SLP credential preferred
- Experience working in rehabilitation, long-term care, or similar clinical settings preferred
- Valid CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong clinical reasoning, excellent communication, and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders
- Experience with individualized treatment planning and outcome-driven therapy
- Proficient documentation and electronic medical record use
- Comfortable with interdisciplinary collaboration and caregiver training
- Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies
- Ability to manage a variable caseload and float between sites
