Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming)
• Support safe mobility and transfers while using proper body mechanics
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Assist with meals and ensure residents’ dietary needs and preferences are respected
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care provided and resident responses
• Help create a warm, home-like environment that promotes dignity and independence
• Participate in team huddles and collaborate with nurses, therapists, and support staff to deliver excellent care

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (state-required credential) — active and in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Current immunizations and TB screening as required by the facility
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-first approach
• Ability to perform physical aspects of the role including lifting and assisting residents safely

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused caregiving
• Familiarity with documentation of resident care and shift reporting
• Infection control and hand hygiene best practices
• Ability to observe, recognize, and escalate changes in resident condition
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and the care team
