Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care for residents during overnight coverage, ensuring safety and comfort
- Perform assessments, document changes in condition, and communicate critical updates to the care team
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and on time
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to implement care plans and support transitions
- Respond promptly to resident needs and emergencies with calm, confident clinical decision-making
- Support facility staff with admissions, discharges, and family communications as needed
Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered LPN or RN license (appropriate to role) required; willingness to obtain Maine licensure if not already licensed
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Minimum clinical experience in long-term care or medical-surgical nursing is preferred
- Clean background checks and required immunizations or testing as per facility policy
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently overnight
Education
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program (LPN) or accredited nursing program (RN - ADN/BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Sound clinical assessment and medication administration skills
- Familiarity with documentation systems and electronic charting
- Ability to prioritize, triage, and escalate concerns appropriately
- Compassionate bedside manner and resident-centered care approach
- Team collaboration and clear shift-to-shift handoff practices
