Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by ensuring instruments and equipment are set up and sterile before each procedure
• Maintain a safe sterile field and anticipate the needs of the surgical team during cases
• Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts accurately and document counts per policy
• Assist surgeons and nurses by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies efficiently and calmly
• Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and tracking of surgical instruments and equipment
• Participate in facility-specific competency testing and skills checklists to maintain high standards
• Adhere to infection control policies and complete required health screenings and vaccinations
• Communicate clearly with the surgical team and support staff to promote patient safety and smooth workflow

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) — required or current certification preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — required
• Successful completion of license/certificate verification as requested by the facility
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist as required
• Pass required health screenings including drug screen, fit test, color vision, and immunization verification
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operating room environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and operating room protocols
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments, trays, and sterile processing
