Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough speech, language, cognition, and swallowing assessments to identify patient needs
• Develop individualized treatment plans with clear, measurable goals that improve patient outcomes
• Provide skilled therapy sessions using evidence-based approaches and adaptive strategies
• Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, PT/OT, and caregivers to ensure coordinated care
• Document patient progress accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families on strategies, home programs, and community resources for ongoing success
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to discharge planning and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active state license in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in SLP (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
• Experience in inpatient or rehabilitation settings preferred, especially neuro/rehab and dysphagia
• Strong interpersonal and documentation skills, with a patient-centered approach
• Ability to pass facility credentialing and background checks

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required) or clinical doctorate in related field

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in standardized and functional assessment of speech, language, cognition, and swallowing
• Knowledge of dysphagia management and safe swallowing strategies
• Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and clear clinical documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across disciplines
• Ability to adapt treatment to meet individual patient and facility needs
