Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients quickly and thoroughly using the nursing process to prioritize care in a fast-paced ER
• Develop and implement individualized care plans and evaluate patient responses to interventions
• Provide clear, compassionate patient education and discharge instructions to improve outcomes
• Lead and coordinate ancillary personnel to ensure efficient, safe patient care
• Perform emergency and acute nursing interventions with sound clinical judgment
• Document patient care accurately and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
• Participate in required training and compliance activities to maintain a safe clinical environment

Qualifications

• Current Iowa RN license (required)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• BCLS (required)
• ACLS (required)
• PALS (required)
• TNCC (required)
• Emergency/ER nursing experience preferred but not required
• Ability to complete employer-required employment and health items prior to start date (references, licensure verification, immunizations, drug screen, background checks, Fit Test, mandatory training modules)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient assessment and triage in emergency settings
• Skilled in care planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Strong clinical judgment for acute and urgent care interventions
• Ability to supervise and coordinate ancillary staff
• Clear verbal and written communication for handoffs and documentation
• Familiarity with hospital policies, infection control, and emergency protocols
