Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered occupational therapy interventions to support functional recovery
- Assist with evaluation implementation and document patient progress in the medical record
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update individualized care plans
- Train and educate patients and families on adaptive strategies and therapeutic exercises
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and adhere to facility policies and regulatory standards
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and help the team meet rehab goals
Qualifications
- Active COTA certification (Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant)
- State licensure or eligibility to practice in Massachusetts
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Experience in inpatient rehabilitation or similar settings preferred
- Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-handling skills
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field
- Completion of an accredited OTA program and COTA credentialing
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise, ADL retraining, and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Comfortable with clinical documentation and care plan development
- Able to assess functional performance and implement appropriate interventions
- Good clinical judgment, time management, and patient education abilities
- Collaborative approach to working with nurses, PTs, SLPs, and other team members
