Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy assistant care under the supervision of an OTR to help patients regain independence
- Implement individualized treatment plans and document patient progress with clarity
- Use evidence-based therapeutic activities to improve functional outcomes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create coordinated care plans
- Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques, safety and home programming
- Monitor and communicate changes in patient status to the supervising therapist
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and comply with facility policies
Qualifications
- Active COTA certification (required)
- Eligibility for or current Massachusetts state licensure/registration for OTA (obtainable prior to start)
- BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Previous experience in rehab, skilled nursing, or outpatient settings preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a team-first attitude
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL retraining and therapeutic activity planning
- Familiarity with documentation standards and care planning
- Ability to adapt treatments for diverse adult and geriatric populations
- Good clinical reasoning, time management, and patient education skills
- Comfortable using common rehab equipment and adaptive devices
