Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing abilities and needs
- Develop individualized treatment plans that target meaningful functional goals
- Deliver evidence-based therapy using a range of approaches tailored to each patient
- Document progress thoroughly and communicate updates with the care team
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, social workers and family members to support holistic recovery
- Educate patients and caregivers on strategies and home programs to maximize carryover
- Participate in discharge planning and ensure smooth transitions of care
Qualifications
- Active Massachusetts license as a Speech-Language Pathologist or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent)
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working in a rehabilitation/long-term care setting and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team
- Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in diagnostic assessments and treatment planning for adults
- Experience with dysphagia evaluation and management
- Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication options
- Skilled in patient- and family-centered counseling and education
- Solid documentation and time-management abilities
- Collaborative communication skills to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team
