Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough pre-surgical visits, focusing on patient education and preparing patients for cardiac surgery
- Perform 12-lead EKGs and MRSA swabs accurately and efficiently as part of the clinic workflow
- Interpret laboratory and clinical results and communicate findings promptly to surgeons and schedulers
- Plan and coordinate discharge and follow-up instructions to ensure safe transitions of care
- Document care and clinical encounters in EPIC with clarity and timeliness
- Provide compassionate support to anxious and fragile patients, helping them understand procedures and recovery
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (PT, radiology, social services) to optimize patient care
Qualifications
- Active Washington RN license in-hand (required; pending licenses not accepted)
- BLS certification (required)
- Minimum 1 year nursing experience required; 2 years inpatient or cardiac clinic experience preferred
- Experience with EPIC charting (required)
- Comfort working with adult and geriatric cardiac populations and a 1:5 patient ratio in clinic
- Reliable personal transportation and willingness to meet local commute/relocation expectations if applicable
- First-time travel clinicians are welcome
Knowledge & Skills
- EPIC electronic charting expertise
- Proficient in obtaining and interpreting 12-lead EKGs
- Solid skills in interpretation of laboratory results
- Strong patient teaching and education abilities for pre- and post-op counseling
- Experience performing MRSA swabs and discharge planning
- Clinical assessment skills specific to cardiology patients (CAD, AFIB, HCM, heart failure, etc.)
- Clear communication with surgical teams and schedulers
