Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional perioperative nursing as a circulating and scrubbing RN in the general and orthopedic OR
• Support complex orthopedic cases including ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, spinal fusion and total joint replacements
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure patient safety during all phases of surgery
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and interprofessional teams to deliver efficient, high-quality care
• Document accurately and efficiently in Epic to support continuity of care
• Float between UCSF facilities as required, adapting quickly to different teams and workflows
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond promptly to urgent OR needs

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license (required)
• AHA BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient OR experience with solid circulating and scrubbing background
• Strong orthopedic experience preferred (ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, joint replacement, spinal cases)
• Travel assignment experience preferred and ability to float between facilities
• CNOR is preferred but not required
• COVID-19 vaccine plus booster required per facility guideline (medical/religious exemptions only)

Knowledge & Skills

• Operating room workflows: circulating and scrubbing proficiency
• Orthopedic instrumentation and equipment familiarity (Hana table experience a plus)
• Experience with endoscopic and general surgical procedures (EGD, colonoscopy, laparoscopic cases)
• Proficient charting in Epic (preferred)
• Strong situational awareness, sterile field management and surgical asepsis
• Ability to function in a fast-paced teaching hospital environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
