Roles & Responsibilities

• Operate and manage the perioperative charge desk to keep the OR running smoothly
• Lead and coordinate daily OR staffing, assignments, and case sequencing with clarity and calm
• Serve as the charge nurse: triage urgent needs, escalate appropriately, and keep patient flow moving
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and support services to ensure timely, safe care
• Provide mentorship and support to perioperative staff, promoting best practices and teamwork
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
• Respond to emergent situations using ACLS/CPR skills and decisive clinical judgment
• Contribute to quality improvement efforts to enhance patient outcomes and OR efficiency

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (required)
• Current CPR and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum one year of current perioperative charge nurse or relief charge nurse experience (required)
• CNOR certification (desired)
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field (preferred)
• Two or more years of Critical Care experience (preferred)
• Strong leadership, triage, and communication skills

Education

• Active California RN license (required)
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field (preferred)

• Perioperative nursing and OR workflow knowledge
• Charge desk operations and case coordination
• Patient safety principles and surgical asepsis
• Critical thinking and rapid decision-making in high-acuity situations
