Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver expert stepdown/PCU nursing care for surgical, medical, and neuro patients
- Monitor and titrate vasoactive drips safely and according to protocol
- Manage IVs, central lines, PICCs, and arterial lines with precision
- Provide advanced airway support including CPAP/BiPAP and trach care
- Operate and troubleshoot common equipment such as IV pumps, PCA pumps, and bladder scanners
- Perform cardiac monitoring tasks including 12-lead EKG acquisition and assist with cardioversion/defibrillation when needed
- Care for patients with dialysis fistulas and assist with vascular access management
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of critical care nursing experience (explicit requirement)
- Experience in PCU/Stepdown and ICU settings preferred
- Comfort and competence with vasoactive drip titration and advanced line management
- Night shift experience and ability to thrive in a fast-paced stepdown environment
- Proven skills in airway management including CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy care
- Experience with PCA and epidural pumps, feeding tube care, and wound VAC management
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry and stepdown patient monitoring
- Vasoactive medications such as vasopressors and antiarrhythmics
- IV insertion, PICC and central line care, A-line management
- Cardiac skills including 12-lead EKGs and familiarity with cardioversion/defibrillation
- Use of common supportive devices: PCA pumps, bladder scanners, SCDs, optiflow and vapotherm
- Comfort with neuro and surgical patient populations and post-op care needs
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and team communication skills
