Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents to support dignity and independence
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
• Monitor and record vital signs and resident status, reporting changes to the nursing team promptly
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper lifting techniques and assistive devices
• Document care accurately and maintain clear communication with nurses, families and interdisciplinary team members
• Help maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for residents
• Adhere to infection control protocols, HIPAA and facility policies to protect residents and staff
• Participate in resident care planning and team huddles to improve outcomes

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification or completion of a state-recognized Geriatric Nursing Assistant program (or eligible to obtain)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (required)
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
• Successful background check and drug screen as required
• Compassion, patience and strong communication skills with older adults
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred

Education

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant or nursing assistant training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Resident-centered care and geriatric support
• Assistance with ADLs and mobility support
• Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
• Accurate charting and documentation practices
• Infection control and safe handling procedures
• Effective communication with residents, families and clinical teams
• Ability to follow care plans and adapt to changing needs
