Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting with dignity and respect
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to the nursing team
• Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities
• Document care accurately and timely in the resident record to keep the care team aligned
• Follow infection prevention, safety protocols and facility policies to protect residents and staff
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or equivalent certification required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by the facility
• Comfortable assisting with personal care and transfers for older adults
• Clear background check and drug screening per facility policy
• Professional, patient-focused attitude with strong communication skills

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and safe patient handling
• Skill with ADLs, feeding assistance and toileting protocols
• Ability to take and record vital signs and recognize abnormal findings
• Strong documentation and time management skills
• Team-player mentality and effective communication with residents and staff
• Compassionate approach to dementia care and behavioral changes
