Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and toileting
- Support safe mobility and transfers while promoting resident independence
- Monitor and report changes in residents condition to the nursing team promptly
- Assist with feeding and hydration while observing dietary needs and preferences
- Document care accurately and timely in the resident chart to ensure continuity of care
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe care environment
- Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists and families to deliver person-centered care
- Contribute to a warm, respectful atmosphere that honors each resident s dignity
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification or equivalent in Maryland as required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Completion of an approved GNA or CNA training program
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings and immunizations
- Reliable, punctual, and able to lift or assist residents as required by job duties
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant or CNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care needs and common chronic conditions
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and basic resident hygiene
- Ability to observe, recognize and report clinical changes
- Familiarity with documentation best practices and basic electronic charting
- Infection control and hand hygiene practices
- Teamwork, time management and respectful interpersonal skills
