Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, supporting dignity and independence
- Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding)
- Take and record basic vital signs and observe changes in resident condition
- Document resident care accurately and promptly in charts and care plans
- Communicate clearly with nurses, interdisciplinary team members and families
- Follow infection control, safety protocols and facility policies at all times
- Support mobility and safe transfers, and help with restorative programs
- Engage residents in meaningful activities and emotional support to improve quality of life
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — Maryland certification preferred
- CPR/BLS certification required or willingness to obtain upon hire
- High attention to detail, strong communication and a caring attitude
- Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening and health screenings
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred but compassionate newcomers are welcomed
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- GNA certification or equivalent state geriatric nursing assistant credential
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic resident care
- Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures
- Basic vital signs measurement and documentation
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
- Teamwork and ability to follow care plans and nursing direction
- Time management and dependable attendance for assigned shifts
