Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Take and report vital signs, observations, and changes in resident condition promptly
• Support safe transfers and fall-prevention efforts while using proper body mechanics
• Collaborate with nursing staff to follow care plans and document resident progress
• Create a warm, friendly environment by engaging residents in conversation and activity

Qualifications

• Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification — required
• State certification or ability to obtain Maryland authorization as needed
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or required by facility
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
• Reliable, compassionate caregiver with experience in long-term or geriatric care preferred
• Ability to pass background checks and mandatory health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Comfortable with ADLs, transfers, and safe resident handling techniques
• Good observation and communication skills to report changes to nursing staff
• Team player attitude with the ability to follow care plans and facility protocols
• Time management and organization to meet scheduled resident needs
