Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, ensuring comfort and dignity
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and maintain clear communication with the care team
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Help create a warm, engaging environment that promotes resident wellbeing and independence
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification or equivalent in the state of Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
- Comfortable working with geriatric populations and supporting mobility needs
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work the full scheduled shift
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic clinical skills for assisting with ADLs and taking vital signs
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
- Good observational skills to notice subtle changes in residents
- Compassionate bedside manner and patience with memory-impaired residents
- Ability to follow care plans and document appropriately
- Teamwork and clear communication with nurses, therapists, and family members
