Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care and assistance with activities of daily living to promote resident dignity and comfort
- Assist with ambulation, transfers, and safe mobility to help residents stay as independent as possible
- Monitor and report changes in condition to the nursing team to ensure timely interventions
- Document care accurately and timely in the patient record to maintain continuity and quality of care
- Support mealtime and feeding assistance, including safe swallowing practices when needed
- Create warm, respectful connections with residents to enhance their emotional well-being
- Collaborate with nurses and other care team members to implement individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state-equivalent credential
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
- Comfortable assisting with mobility, transfers, and personal care tasks
- Compassionate communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Reliable, professional, and punctual for scheduled shifts
Education
- GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program; high school diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic resident care principles and infection control practices
- Skilled in safe transfer techniques and use of mobility aids
- Able to observe, document, and communicate resident status changes clearly
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
