Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the Physical Therapist in delivering individualized treatment plans that help patients regain mobility and function
• Implement therapeutic exercises, modalities, gait training, and transfer techniques with compassion and safety
• Document patient progress accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility strategies
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to support coordinated, patient-centered care
• Maintain a safe treatment environment and adhere to facility infection control and safety policies

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted PTA license for New Mexico (required)
• Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (required or able to obtain prior to start)
• Clinical experience as a PTA preferred, especially in outpatient/rehab or skilled care settings
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with therapeutic exercise progressions and gait training
• Knowledge of transfers, safe patient handling, and assistive devices
• Skilled in clinical documentation and outcome measurement
• Ability to instruct and motivate patients and caregivers
• Good time management, clinical judgment, and interpersonal skills
