Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality psychological assessment and individual and group therapy to support mental health needs
- Develop and implement evidence-based, individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate with custody staff and multidisciplinary clinical teams to coordinate care
- Conduct risk assessments and crisis intervention when needed, prioritizing safety
- Maintain thorough, timely clinical documentation and comply with facility policies
- Participate in case consultations, trainings, and quality improvement efforts to elevate care
- Respect security protocols while advocating for patient-centered mental health services
Qualifications
- Licensed Psychologist (PSY) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) — active license required
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) accepted as an alternative credential
- Experience working in mental health settings; correctional or forensic experience is a plus
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and crisis-management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and follow facility guidelines
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical assessment and diagnosis in adult mental health
- Evidence-based therapies and treatment planning (for example, CBT and trauma-informed approaches)
- Crisis intervention and risk assessment
- Clear, professional clinical documentation
- Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations
- Team collaboration and effective communication within a correctional healthcare setting
