Shift Type: Wednesday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (first week); Wednesday-Thursday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (second week) - alternating schedule, day shift
Hours per Week: 20
Candidate Pay Rate: $127 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary care to the incarcerated patient population, addressing acute and chronic conditions
- Perform focused histories and physicals, develop treatment plans, and document care clearly in the medical record
- Prescribe and manage medications safely and in accordance with facility protocols
- Coordinate specialty referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up to ensure continuity of care
- Collaborate with nursing and support staff to manage clinic flow and improve patient outcomes
- Participate in quality improvement activities and adhere to institutional policies and clinical guidelines
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining security and safety protocols within the facility
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Active and unrestricted California medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related primary care specialty preferred
- Valid DEA registration or ability to obtain where required
- Minimum clinical experience in primary care; correctional health experience is a strong plus
- Ability to pass facility background checks and meet credentialing requirements
Education
- MD or DO required
- Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or equivalent preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong skills in assessment, diagnosis, and management of common adult medical conditions
- Excellent documentation and electronic medical record navigation
- Familiarity with infection control, chronic disease management, and preventive care
- Effective communication and teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting
- Ability to work independently in a secure facility environment and prioritize care needs
