Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and deliver person-centered assessments
• Diagnose and manage a broad range of psychiatric conditions with evidence-based treatment
• Prescribe and monitor medications safely, adjusting plans as patients progress
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
• Provide crisis assessment and rapid intervention when urgent situations arise
• Document clinical encounters clearly and promptly in the medical record
• Consult with custody, nursing, and behavioral health staff to ensure coordinated care
• Participate in case reviews and contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completed residency in Psychiatry
• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
• Active California medical license or ability to obtain prior to start
• DEA registration or ability to obtain as required for prescribing controlled substances
• Comfort working in a structured institutional or correctional behavioral health setting preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, professionalism, and excellent communication skills

Education

• MD or DO (Psychiatry residency completed)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of psychiatric assessment and differential diagnosis
• Medication management including psychotropics and monitoring for side effects
• Crisis intervention and risk assessment skills
• Ability to develop collaborative treatment plans with multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and timely clinical documentation
• Cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse patient populations
