Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Facilitate clear, accurate ASL interpretation in classroom and school settings to ensure full student access
- Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpreting for instruction, group activities, and meetings
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to support individualized education plans
- Support student communication and social inclusion during lessons, transitions, and extracurricular activities
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of services and communication logs
- Attend staff meetings and IEP meetings as needed to provide interpreting and access support
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries while advocating for student access
Qualifications
- Fluent in American Sign Language with strong expressive and receptive skills
- Certification such as NIC or state interpreter credential preferred
- Experience working with K-12 students, educational teams, or in a school environment preferred
- Comfort interpreting both classroom instruction and small-group/individual settings
- Ability to pass required background checks and school screening
- Reliable, professional, punctual, and student-centered approach
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Interpreting, ASL, Deaf Studies, Education, or related field preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep understanding of Deaf culture and language access best practices
- Skilled in simultaneous and consecutive interpreting techniques
- Ability to adapt interpreting style to age-appropriate classroom content
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with educators and families
- Familiarity with educational terminology and Individualized Education Program (IEP) processes
- Good organizational skills for documentation and scheduling
