Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide thorough psychiatric evaluations and evidence-based medication management for patients in a substance abuse treatment setting
- Develop individualized treatment plans that integrate mental health and substance use considerations
- Collaborate daily with multidisciplinary teams including therapists, nursing staff, and case managers to optimize patient outcomes
- Document clinical encounters clearly and timely in the medical record
- Participate in orientation and training activities during the initial two-week onboarding period
- Contribute to a respectful, therapeutic environment that promotes recovery and dignity
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree with completion of a Psychiatry residency
- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
- Active or obtainable California medical license (physician must be able to obtain CA licensure prior to start if not already licensed)
- Valid DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
- Experience or interest in treating co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; experience working in forensic or long-term treatment settings is a plus
Education
- MD or DO with Psychiatry residency
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in psychiatric assessment and medication management
- Familiarity with evidence-based approaches to substance use disorder treatment
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to care planning
- Proficient clinical documentation and electronic medical record use
- Strong risk assessment and crisis management skills
