Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality individual and group psychotherapy to incarcerated adults
- Conduct psychological assessments and intake evaluations with clarity and compassion
- Develop and implement treatment plans that support rehabilitation and mental wellness
- Deliver crisis intervention and safety planning when urgent needs arise
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in the required systems
- Collaborate with custody staff and multidisciplinary clinical teams to coordinate care
- Participate in trainings and case reviews to continuously improve outcomes
Qualifications
- Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) required
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) considered
- Experience working in mental health settings, correctional health experience is a strong plus
- Valid license to practice in California preferred
- Ability to pass facility security clearance and comply with institutional policies
- Willingness to complete the 2-week, five-day-per-week training orientation
Education
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Proficiency in individual and group therapy modalities, including CBT and trauma-informed approaches
- Crisis management and de-escalation techniques
- Clear, concise documentation and progress note writing
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and security-focused environments
- Cultural competence and respectful communication with diverse populations
