Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess nutritional needs and develop individualized nutrition care plans for patients
- Provide medical nutrition therapy and counseling to support patient health outcomes
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to coordinate patient-centered care
- Review and monitor therapeutic diets and make adjustments as clinical needs change
- Document assessments, interventions, and progress clearly in the patient record
- Contribute to menu planning and oversight to ensure compliance with therapeutic orders
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to nutrition services and patient safety
Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD or RDN) credential required
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field; completion of an accredited dietetic internship preferred
- Current state registration or licensure if required by California regulations
- Experience working in clinical settings preferred; experience in correctional healthcare is a plus
- Ability to pass facility background checks and meet site-specific health clearance requirements
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field required
- Completion of ACEND-accredited dietetic internship preferred
- Active RD/RDN credential required
Knowledge & Skills
- Medical nutrition therapy and therapeutic diet planning
- Nutrition assessment and documentation best practices
- Patient counseling and behavior change techniques
- Collaboration with interdisciplinary clinical teams
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and charting
- Attention to detail and adherence to regulatory and facility policies
