Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adolescents on an inpatient psychiatry unit
• Perform thorough assessments, monitor clinical status, and implement individualized care plans
• Use active crisis intervention techniques (TCI/CPI/MANDT/TEAM) to de-escalate situations and maintain a therapeutic environment
• Administer medications safely and document treatments accurately in the patient record
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and families to support recovery and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on coping skills, medication management, and aftercare resources
• Contribute to unit safety, participate in team meetings, and support unit-based quality improvement

Qualifications

• Current and active Registered Nurse licensure (state RN) required
• Active Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) OR Crisis Prevention (CPI) OR MANDT OR TEAM certification required
• American Heart Association BLS required
• ACLS preferred
• Experience working in inpatient adolescent psychiatry or behavioral health settings preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Education

• Current RN license; ADN or BSN acceptable
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in crisis intervention and behavioral de-escalation techniques
• Strong clinical assessment and psychiatric nursing skills for adolescents
• Knowledge of therapeutic milieu principles and trauma-informed care
• Competent medication administration and monitoring practices
• Effective communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary clinical teams
• Comfortable with clinical documentation and concise, accurate charting
