Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile field and surgical instruments for a wide range of procedures
• Assist surgeons and the perioperative team during operations with skill and composure
• Anticipate team needs by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies efficiently
• Perform instrument counts and assist with accurate, timely documentation
• Support patient safety and infection control standards in a Level II trauma center
• Float to Same Day Surgery as needed, providing consistent high-quality care across settings
• Communicate clearly with nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia to keep cases running smoothly

Qualifications

• One (1) year recent hospital experience as a Surgical Technologist OR graduate of an accredited Operating Room Technician course
• Current CPR certification required
• Demonstrated experience working in an Operating Room environment (inpatient or same day surgery)
• Ability to work PM/evening shifts and float between main OR and outpatient Same Day Surgery when needed
• Professional communication skills and a team-oriented approach

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Operating Room Technician course OR equivalent clinical experience (1 year recent hospital experience as a Surgical Technologist accepted)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
• Experience in a trauma center or fast-paced inpatient OR environment
• Familiarity with same day surgery workflows and turnover efficiency
• Excellent situational awareness, attention to detail, and infection control practices
• Ability to adapt to changing case mixes and assist multiple surgical specialties
