Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on the Acute Rehab unit for patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputations, orthopedic surgeries and complex neuro diagnoses
• Perform comprehensive assessments and implement individualized rehab-focused care plans in partnership with PT, OT, Speech and the rehab team
• Manage tracheostomy, bipap/cpap and specialized respiratory care in collaboration with Respiratory Therapy
• Document accurately and efficiently in Cerner PowerChart to maintain continuity of care
• Supervise and collaborate with nurse aides and rehab aides to ensure safe patient mobility and daily living support
• Serve as a reliable team member who can float to nearby units (4G, 4Farr, Tele) as needed
• Maintain patient safety and quality outcomes within 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratios
• Participate in unit-based orientation and support new team members during the typical 3-4 shift orientation period

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in acute rehab and/or ortho/neuro med-surg required
• BLS certification required
• Rehab certification preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Comfortable caring for patients with trachs, bipap/cpap and complex neuro/ortho diagnoses
• Experience with Cerner PowerChart strongly preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong rehab nursing skills including mobility, ADL support and progressive goals
• Clinical knowledge of stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputations and neurodegenerative conditions
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records and thorough documentation practices
• Ability to collaborate effectively with PT, OT, Speech, RT and pharmacy 24/7
• Skilled at prioritizing care in a higher-acuity rehab environment
• Excellent communication and patient/family education skills
