Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate med/surg nursing care for adult patients (18+) with professionalism and clinical accuracy
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings clearly in Meditech EMR
• Administer medications and manage medication workflows using Pyxis
• Manage wounds and specialized devices, including wound vacs and chest tubes, following unit protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute patient-centered care plans
• Float to surgical, pediatric or transitional care units as needed to meet patient needs
• Follow department policies, maintain professional nursing attire, and participate actively in orientation and ongoing training

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by the start of the assignment
• Minimum 2 years of med/surg or higher-level nursing experience
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with Meditech EMR and medication dispensing systems (Pyxis) preferred
• Comfortable with wound care, wound vacs and chest tube management
• Ability to float between units and work a variable schedule with flexibility

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong med/surg clinical skills and adult patient care expertise
• Proficiency or comfort learning Meditech EMR workflows
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication systems and safe medication administration practices
• Wound care knowledge, including use of wound vacs
• Competence in chest tube care and monitoring
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and documentation skills
• Adaptability to changing shift patterns and unit assignments
