Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population
• Float between assigned units (Medical, Laulima surgical acute, occasional Cardiovascular) and maintain continuity of care
• Manage complex wound care, including Wound VAC therapy, and provide thorough documentation
• Perform chest tube management safely and competently, escalating concerns as needed
• Use Meditech EMR and Pyxis to accurately document care and administer medications
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered plans of care
• Maintain infection control standards and professional nursing attire while promoting patient safety
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and ongoing training to stay current with best practices

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — State of Hawaii RN License required by assignment start
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (job notes 2–10 years of experience)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
• Comfortable with 12-hour day shifts and the ability to float between units
• Experience with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound VACs and chest tube management preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medical-surgical nursing skills and patient assessment
• Wound care expertise, including Wound VAC management
• Chest tube management and post-procedure monitoring
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR for documentation
• Experience using Pyxis medication systems
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and adaptability to float between units
• Ability to prioritize patient safety and provide compassionate care
