Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for adult patients in a fast-paced ED
- Perform advanced cardiac monitoring and obtain 12-lead EKGs promptly
- Initiate and manage IVs, PICC and central line access as needed
- Deliver airway management including procedural sedation, CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator support
- Respond quickly and effectively to cardiac events including cardioversion and defibrillation
- Triaging and prioritizing patients to ensure timely, safe care in a busy admission environment
- Collaborate with physicians, techs and support staff to coordinate patient flow and admissions
- Document assessments, interventions and patient status clearly and accurately
- Support behavioral health presentations with compassion and safe de-escalation when appropriate
- Mentor and support teammates to foster a positive, team-first culture
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to practice in Missouri or eligible for compact licensure)
- 3-5 years of emergency department nursing experience preferred
- Proven skills in IV insertion, cardiac monitoring and line management
- Comfortable with procedural sedation and advanced airway interventions
- Experience with telemetry interpretation, cardioversion and defibrillation
- Strong customer service mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Behavioral health or chemical dependency experience is a plus
- Willingness to work night shifts and adapt to a high-admission ED
Knowledge & Skills
- Adult emergency care and rapid assessment
- IV, PICC and central line management
- 12-lead EKG acquisition and telemetry interpretation
- Cardiac rhythm recognition and emergency interventions
- Procedural sedation, ventilator basics and trach care
- CPAP and BiPAP troubleshooting
- Trauma awareness and critical thinking in high-acuity situations
- Strong communication, teamwork and customer service skills
