Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and compassion
• Provide safe, attentive hands-on care during evening shifts to support rehab routines
• Monitor and record vital signs and changes in resident condition accurately
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Document care provided and report concerns promptly to nursing staff to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current GNA / Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification (or state equivalent) — must be eligible/active for Maryland assignments
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or able to obtain upon hire
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation settings preferred
• Compassionate bedside manner, strong communication skills, and reliable attendance
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA/Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of resident-centered care and activities of daily living
• Familiarity with infection control practices and basic clinical observations
• Comfortable with safe transfer techniques and mobility assistance
• Accurate documentation skills and basic electronic charting familiarity
• Teamwork, time management, and the ability to prioritize resident safety
