Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to emergency department patients.
• Rapidly assess, triage, and prioritize patients based on acuity.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document care clearly.
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and ancillary staff to deliver coordinated care.
• Respond to codes and emergency situations with calm, efficient action.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with facility policies.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility under compact rules.
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or obtainable.
• Previous emergency department experience preferred (demonstrated competency in fast-paced settings).
• Comfortable working 12+ hour shifts and managing high-acuity patients.
• Ability to pass facility orientation and credentialing requirements.

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred when available.

Knowledge & Skills

• Excellent patient assessment and triage skills in emergency settings.
• Proficient with IV therapy, medication administration, and wound care.
• Familiarity with cardiac monitoring and basic dysrhythmia recognition.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure.
• Comfort using electronic medical records and standard ED workflows.
