Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care across medical and surgical units
• Float between Medical, Laulima (surgical acute), and occasional Cardiovascular units to meet patient care needs
• Perform and manage procedures such as chest tube care and wound VAC management
• Document care accurately and efficiently using Meditech EMR and unit systems like Pyxis
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement effective care plans
• Educate patients and families on condition-specific care and discharge instructions
• Maintain professional nursing standards, infection control, and required immunization documentation

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by assignment start date (travelers must apply upon acceptance if not currently licensed)
• Minimum clinical experience: 2-10 years of nursing practice (as stated)
• Current BLS required; ACLS required
• Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
• Ability to safely float between multiple units and adapt to changing patient populations
• Documentation of required immunizations; medical or religious exemptions are not accepted

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medical-surgical nursing skills and comfort with float-pool assignments
• Experience with Meditech EMR for charting and clinical workflows
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication systems and unit-based equipment
• Clinical competence in chest tube care and wound VAC therapy
• Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills
• Ability to work professionally in clean scrubs and adhere to unit dress code
