Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to patients who meet Medical Step-Down level of care
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and vital signs to detect changes in condition
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop appropriate care plans
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Respond promptly to emergencies and contribute to life-saving interventions when needed
• Document patient care, changes, and handoffs clearly and timely in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio (required prior to start)
• Minimum 2 years experience in Medical Step-Down nursing (explicit requirement)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) only (required prior to start)
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for the healthcare provider from AHA only (required prior to start)
• BSN preferred and Magnet-recognized certification welcomed

• BSN preferred

• Telemetry interpretation and arrhythmia recognition
• IV therapy and medication administration best practices
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Effective EHR documentation and handoff communication
• Time management, prioritization, and teamwork in a fast-paced unit
• Infection prevention and safety-focused care
• Patient and family education with clear, compassionate communication
