Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to SDU patients using evidence-based practices
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing interventions
Monitor patients closely and communicate changes promptly to the interdisciplinary team
Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
Collaborate with physicians, techs and ancillary staff to coordinate safe transitions of care
Serve as a patient and family educator and advocate during the SDU stay
Contribute to unit quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

Current RN license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS preferred or obtainable after hire
Clinical experience in progressive care, step-down or med-surg nursing recommended
Strong assessment, critical thinking and communication skills
Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and adapt to unit staffing patterns

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of progressive care/step-down nursing practices and monitoring
Familiarity with telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation helpful
Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
Effective time management and prioritization under busy conditions
Team-oriented mindset and strong patient advocacy skills
