Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for radiologic examinations, explain procedures clearly and answer questions with compassion
• Position patients and select proper imaging techniques to capture diagnostic-quality images
• Operate CR, DR and fluoroscopy equipment safely and efficiently while following ALARA principles
• Transfer and route images to PACS, change priority flags (STAT/URGENT) as needed and document studies accurately
• Assist radiologists and fluoroscopy techs during procedures and maintain sterile technique in OR settings
• Perform portable radiography across departments including Emergency, OR, PACU and nursing units
• Prepare and administer IV and oral contrast media and document steps taken for any contrast reactions
• Perform clerical duties: verify orders, schedule coordination, image release and basic office tasks during off shifts
• Troubleshoot basic equipment issues, perform simple adjustments and escalate complex problems appropriately
• Promote excellent patient experience and provide courteous customer service to patients, families and staff

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an ARRT-approved Radiologic Technology program
• Registered with ARRT in Radiology (ARRT registration required)
• Meets American Heart Association standards for Healthcare Provider BLS and renews BLS every two years
• One year of radiology experience in a hospital, clinic or physician's office preferred
• Comfortable with contrast administration, sterile technique in OR, and portable radiography
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot equipment problems and perform simple adjustments

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a specialized Radiologic Technology training program (ARRT-approved)

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient preparation and positioning for diagnostic imaging
• Image acquisition using CR, DR and fluoroscopy systems
• Radiation safety practices and ALARA principles
• PACS operation, image routing/transfer and CR reader/printer use
• Contrast media preparation and administration, plus reaction documentation
• Portable radiography operation and safe patient transfers
• Basic troubleshooting of imaging equipment and quality assurance awareness
• Clerical skills: scheduling coordination, documentation and workflow monitoring
