Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care nursing for a 31-bed mixed-acuity PCU, caring for stepdown and med/surg patients
• Manage telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias to keep patients safe and escalate when needed
• Administer and titrate medications, including cardiac drips, while following heparin and other facility protocols
• Perform non-invasive airway management and manage CPAP/BiPAP therapy and High Flow Nasal Cannula as indicated
• Serve as charge-capable on nights when assigned, coordinating unit flow and supporting the team
• Use EPIC for documentation and Omnicell for medication management to maintain accurate patient records
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory, PT, Pharmacy, Rapid Response) to deliver coordinated care
• Provide compassionate patient and family education and maintain isolation precautions and wound care as required

Qualifications

• Ohio RN license required
• Minimum 2+ years of RN experience (PCU/stepdown/med-surg or similar preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Comfortable with CPAP/BiPAP management, medication titration, and working charge-capable night shifts
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Familiarity with EPIC documentation and Omnicell medication systems
• Ability and willingness to float within the OSU organization as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring skills
• CPAP/BiPAP and non-invasive airway management
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) experience
• Chest tube and tracheostomy care
• Feeding tube and NG/Dobhoff management
• IV therapy, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy
• Titration of cardiac drips and PCA management
• Rapid Response/Code team participation and emergency response skills
• Wound care including Wound VAC use
• Familiarity with EPIC charting and Omnicell medication systems
