Shift Type: 3x12 Night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (night). Includes four weekend shifts (Fri night and/or Sat night) every 4-week schedule. Night coverage; float to UCLA Santa Monica Perinatal unit as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum couplet care with compassion and clinical excellence
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring and interpret abnormal fetal heart rate patterns to guide interventions
• Circulate for NSVDs and C-sections and assist with high-risk deliveries, forceps/vacuum extraction and hemorrhage management
• Lead neonatal resuscitation in the delivery room and support immediate newborn care including APGAR assessment and cord sampling
• Administer and monitor medications including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate and insulin drips as ordered
• Document patient care accurately in Epic and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team
• Support breastfeeding and provide lactation education and discharge teaching to families
• Maintain IVs, manage central lines when needed and operate infusion pumps and monitoring equipment

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing; pending license not accepted
• Minimum 3+ years of Labor & Delivery experience in a high-risk facility with couplet care experience required
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP
• Experience with Epic electronic health record required
• Comfort circulating for C-sections and managing neonatal resuscitation
• Preferred: ACLS, AWHONN (any level), Trauma Level I experience and teaching hospital experience
• Experience working in 1:2 patient ratio environments and responding on rapid response/code teams

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in fetal monitoring and use of external and internal monitoring including IUPC
• Neonatal resuscitation and newborn stabilization in the delivery room
• Hands-on experience with obstetric procedures such as sterile vaginal exams, amniocentesis assistance and cerclage care
• Proficiency in perioperative circulation for C-sections and recovery of C-section patients
• IV therapy, central line maintenance (CVC/PICC) and infusion pump management
• Ability to manage obstetric emergencies including hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia and uterine rupture
• Family-centered teaching skills including breastfeeding support and discharge education
