Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide specialized care for patients with epilepsy, brain tumors, and neurological conditions on a 48-bed Neuro Acute unit
Monitor patients during 24-48 hour Trend EEGs and assess for subtle neurological changes
Collaborate with charge nurses, resource RNs, and PCTs to deliver exceptional patient care with 1:4 ratios
Float to MS/Tele units and sister campuses while maintaining high standards of care
Complete skills validation including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
Utilize critical thinking to detect small changes in patients with complex neurological diagnoses

Qualifications

Active RN license with minimum 2 years of experience required
BLS and ACLS certifications required
BSN preferred, Med Surg/Tele certification preferred
Level 1 trauma experience strongly preferred
Must pass dysrhythmia exam with up to 2 attempts
Clean driving record and reliable personal vehicle required

Education

BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Strong critical thinking and assessment skills for detecting subtle patient changes
Experience with epilepsy monitoring and neurological conditions
Competency in maintaining sterile field during procedures
Ability to assess cranial nerves and manage complex neuro patients
Comfortable with self-releasing velcro seat belts and non-restraint protocols
